How Does Concrete Repainting Work?

If your concrete slab is damaged, traditionally you would need to break up the old surface and get rid of all the material. This is a difficult and very time consuming job. You would then pour new concrete to make the new surface.

If you are covering a large area this process can be very labour intensive and can be very expensive.

The main difference between the traditional process of replacing the slab and concrete painting is that repainting covers the existing concrete structure with a fresh new look.

The concrete paint goes directly on top of the existing concrete area.

How Do You Prepare An Area For Concrete Painting?

In preparation for concrete painting, the area should be clean with no loose concrete or other debris around it.

Loose and flakey concrete can be removed by pressure washing the surface.

It is not recommended to wash the surface with soap or chemicals. We use a special Acid Wash to ensure the paint bonds to the concrete and you get the perfect result. If you do, ensure you remove any residual chemical by rinsing the surface with fresh water. Soap and chemicals can affect the way your concrete driveway paint material adheres. Other loose material or dirt can also interfere with the way the respraying material adheres to the existing surface. Any blemishes and cracks should be covered with repair material to create a smooth surface for the respraying material. The new surface is then sprayed over the area and spread evenly to create a smooth and even finish. After the new surface dries it will leave a smooth, refreshed and attractive new finish.
